The Youth Advisory Council’s November 29th meeting focused on the topic of Housing and Homelessness and Veterans Issues. Through the seven bills the Council discussed, many topics were covered such as veteran franchise owners, housing conditions, and veteran experiences. Before discussing the bills, Janet Turner, a Senior Field Representative for Congressman Lieu, spoke regarding the Congressman’s work relating to housing and homelessness as well as veterans issues. She detailed how the Congressman’s first bill was the West Los Angeles Leasing Act. She also talked about how specifically veteran homelessness is the United State’s only legal responsibility in regards to homelessness.
